WEST FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Residents in the Goldenwood area may have noticed construction in their yards over the past day. That’s because dozens of American flags were planted by neighborhood children ahead of the Fourth of July.
Supporters of the project said it was a way to honor the country and mark America’s 250th birthday.
“It’s just great to celebrate the 4th and it shows that we really take the holiday and stuff like that seriously,” said Tenley Sievert, a Goldenwood resident who helped hang the flags. She added that she hopes the tradition continues.
“I think we should do this every year.”
Liam Imamovich, also a Goldenwood resident who helped with the project, said the effort has personal meaning.
“It means a lot to me. Especially on the 4th of July because it’s America 250. It means a lot, yeah,” Imamovic said.
