Casio has officially partnered with Pokémon, releasing an ambitious new watch that puts 30 pocket monsters on your wrist.
The watch giant has announced the GA110PKM-7A, a full-size G-SHOCK created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise.
According to Casio America (via Yahoo! News), all previous Pokémon-branded watches were based solely on the compact Baby-G silhouette. This vehicle rides on the bold, larger GA110 platform.
The color scheme of the watch is taken from the original games. Red, green and blue accents run across the hands, buttons, dial and bezel, hinting at Pocket Monsters Red, Pocket monsters greenAnd Pocket monsters bluelaunched in Japan in 1996. Two years later, the franchise expanded overseas as Pokémon Red and Blue.
The face of the watch features an inset Pokeball-style dial that sits at the 9 o’clock position, and the watch hands are shaped like the iconic Pikachu silhouette.
The group includes 30 Pokémon, one for each year, starting with the original Kanto starter characters (Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur) throughout the Paldea region (Sprigatito, Fuekoko and Quaxley) – Pikachu and Eevee are also represented.
Mew, a mythical Pokémon said to carry the genes of all Pokémon, occupies the group’s loop. The case back is engraved with a commemorative Pokémon 30th Anniversary logo. And if that’s not enough Poke energy for you, the watch comes in a Pokeball-shaped box with all 30 Pokemon from the group printed on it.
In terms of specifications, the GA110PKM-7A features 200-meter water resistance, shock and magnetic resistance, 29-zone world time, five daily alarms, a 1/1000 second stopwatch with speed measurement, and a full automatic calendar until 2099.
