After a fatal knife attack on a 22-year-old student in… Trier The university said the victims were shocked. “The university community is in mourning,” reads the University of Trier’s home page with a large black background image.

It was with “great shock and deep sadness” that we learned that the student had been the victim of murder. “An event like this deeply shocks us as a university community. The loss of a young man tears a painful hole in our community and leaves us stunned.” A joint moment of silence will be held at noon on Thursday. University staff were provided with psychotherapeutic support.

Witnesses must witness a crime in Trier

The 22-year-old was attacked by a peer on the street just a few minutes’ walk from the university on Wednesday morning. Rescuers revived the victim at the scene, but he did not survive the attack, police said. The suspect, who has Afghan citizenship, initially fled after the crime, but was found and arrested by police after a brief search.

According to police, several witnesses observed the crime. Officers remained available to people affected by the incident until late in the evening.

Little is known about the background to the crime. A police spokesman was initially unable to provide t-online with any additional details about a possible motive or suspect Thursday morning. But he expects to appear before an investigating judge today, the spokesman said.
