“We’re looking forward to this knockout game at the European Championships, the boys deserve it,” says Werns. “Of course, this will not be an easy game for us because the Ukrainians are as strong as the Spanish and have excellent players in their ranks. I personally watched the Ukrainian group play on the court and was impressed on the one hand by their class and control, and on the other by their compactness with the ball. It is not surprising that Ukraine went through Group B with three wins. We will prepare as best as possible for our opponents and will try to put pressure on them in the early stages to put our contribution into the game after rotation against Spain we will rely on our experienced players in the starting XI.”
