The writing process for the second season of Apple TV’s latest hit series has just begun. Widow Bay.
The show’s creator, Katie Dippold, took part in it. Collider’The showrunners at the showrunners panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, where she spoke about the project’s amazing success. It stars Matthew Rhys as the mayor of a New England island whose residents believe is haunted. Widow Bay After its April launch, it quickly became one of the most talked about shows on television and received a whopping 19 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series.
“It took a long time,” Dippold said of how quickly she felt the show had gathered as many fans as it did. She joked that she was still “scared” by Reddit, but eventually took a closer look at the social media platform to see the amount of discussion about it Widow Bay grew wildly. “It was really shocking to see that.”
The writer is also known for her work on works such as Heat And snatched itexplained that she did not know about the renewal of the series for a second season before this news became public. “But I was still always hoping and thinking about it,” she continued, noting that season two began writing earlier this week. “It’s a great room and we’re going to be writing for the next 20 weeks.” Dippold said her goal is to begin filming next year on the series, which also stars Kate O’Flynn, Kevin Carroll, Dale Dickey, Kingston Rumi Southwick and Stephen Root.
As for lessons from the first season that the first showrunner plans to carry into the second, Dippold said, “I learned that pretty quickly.” Dippold noted that she thought the comedy worked because the actors played it straight and dramatic: “Throughout the whole process, she made sure that everything was on target, and so going into season two, that was a top priority. Also, the scripts were longer and quite dense. I had to cut time at the last minute, so I’ll just be more mindful of that because we didn’t need as much.”
She added: “In the edit I just saw, ‘Oh, you don’t actually need any of this anyway.’ I learned a lot about what you don’t need and what you need to do faster.”
