MONTREAL — The Canadiens’ new schedule for the 2026-27 season is here, with the program now featuring 84 games as well as a shortened pre-season.
Habs hockey officially resumes on Tuesday, September 29th when the team is in Toronto to face the Maple Leafs in the tournament opener for the seventh straight season. The Canadiens next face the Pittsburgh Penguins in their first matchup of the campaign Saturday before returning home to host the Carolina Hurricanes at the Bell Center on Oct. 6.
The new expanded format includes two additional divisional games—Montreal will now face each of its Atlantic opponents four times—and it will be the first time the team has played an 84-game season since 1992-93 and 1993-94.
In a presentation video posted on the Club’s platforms, Jake Evans went into detail in an attempt to deceive his teammates by presenting the first 84-game schedule for 1992-93 as the 2026-27 schedule.
