It seems Taylor Sheridan has another new series, and this one is very different from anything we’ve seen before. According to unverified rumors from an “insider” who spoke with Sunthe new show is called Lairdand it will be a drama that will “likely explore the connections between Scotland and America.” This rumor was then picked up Taste of the countrywho called Laird“the new Taylor Sheridan show no one is talking about.”
As of this writing, neither Sheridan nor Paramount+ have confirmed another series set in Yellowstone Universe. In addition to Dutton Ranch Season 2 and Marshals Season two, next prequel will be 1944which theoretically could become a continuation 1923. Could Laird actually ends up happening?
The Duttons are Scottish.
One of the arguments in favor of the existence Laird comes from the miniseries 1883in which James Dutton (Wes Bentley) reveals that his ancestors immigrated from the Scottish Highlands. This refers to the very real immigration of Scots and Scots-Irish to America in the 1700s, both before and after the Revolutionary War. In addition to reports from SunUK store Radio Times reports that Sheridan’s new show will begin filming in Scotland later in 2026, which could mean the series could be released in 2027.
Taylor Sheridan’s Future at Paramount
While it’s possible that Sheridan does have another show in development with Paramount, he left that studio in 2025 in favor of a new deal with NBCUniversal. This suggests that although Landman The third season will be released on Paramount in the next few years, and that additional seasons Madison will also be released through Paramount, Sheridan’s next performances may not take place at that studio. Dutton Ranch And Marshals both are produced by Sheridan, although he is neither showrunner nor head writer on either series. If Laird is really happening and extending the Dutton legacy, this could indicate that Sheridan is not leaving Yellowstone Universe soon. On the other hand, if this series is set in Scotland, long before the Duttons’ ancestors went to America, it will be unlike any version of the franchise.
Dutton Ranch, Landman, Marshals, And Madison future release dates
Yellowstone universe spin-offs and some other neo-westerns (for example, Landman And Madison) are all currently in the interim period. Marshals Season 2 and Dutton Ranch The second season will most likely be released next year. Meanwhile, the projects in which Sheridan is directly involved are Landman Season 3 and Madison Season 2 is also likely to debut in 2027 or later.
Could Laird be part of a future release list? Almost certainly. But don’t call it a western…
