Tata Motors has launched the Sierra EV in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 18.79 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the most expensive variant of the SUV is priced at Rs 24.79 lakh (ex-showroom). It all comes with design and feature changes over its ICE counterpart, making it the seventh vehicle in the brand’s electric vehicle line-up. It sits below the Harrier EV in the brand’s lineup. Orders for the SUV begin today and deliveries will begin on July 15.

The Sierra EV differs from the ICE model in several unique design details. These include a closed front grille in body color, a restyled bumper and other visual elements typical of electric vehicles. It also gets a new 18-inch alloy wheel design, making it more aerodynamic for an electric SUV. Despite the familiar silhouette, the SUV gets a QWD badge to highlight its powertrain. The whole thing has a similar vertical design to its ICE counterpart.

The color list of the Tata Sierra includes Rishikesh Rapids, Nainital Nocturn, Pristine White, Andaman Adventure, Pure Grey, Bengal Rouge, Coorg Cloud. Among them, the first two are exclusive to the QWD variants of the car.

Tata Sierra EV: interior, specifications

Inside, the Tata Sierra EV has a layout very similar to the ICE version of the car. It features a screen-dominant cabin consisting of three screens with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch passenger display. The cabin is said to be eco-friendly thanks to the use of recycled plastics and other such elements.

The Sierra EV’s list of features includes a wireless charger, an air purifier, an electronic valet that enables autonomous parking, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, rear sunshades, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power tailgate and more. It also supports Dolby Atmos via Apple CarPlay and is the first to do so with a set of 12 JBL Black speakers. Additionally, the car gets a HUD with static and dynamic information for four models including standard, immersive, personal and snow. In the list of safety features, the car gets ADAS Level 2, ESP, six airbags, 540-degree camera and much more.

Tata Sierra EV: range, transmission

The Tata Sierra EV is powered by two electric motors: a 175 kW motor located at the rear and a 103 kW motor located at the front. The rear engine has a torque of 240 Nm, and the front engine has a torque of 164 Nm. As a result, the maximum torque is 504 Nm. Additionally, the car gets various driving modes to optimize power utilization.

Consumers can choose between 75 kWh and 63 kWh battery packs. The larger 75 kWh battery pack provides a real-world range of over 500 km on a single charge and a claimed MIDC range of 665 km. For the 65 kWh battery, the claimed range is 565 km per charge (MIDC). It should be noted that these are high voltage LFP batteries. They can be charged using 120 kW, 7.2 kW and 3.3 kW chargers. Thanks to the fastest charging, it can increase the range by more than 250 km in 15 minutes. The electric SUV also has V2V and V2L charging capabilities.
