A suspicious fire left one person dead on Monday evening when a woman succumbed to her injuries after being pulled from a fire in Portneuf.
Emergency services were called around 10 p.m. for double fire on 2e I called Donnacona.
A family of two adults and four children managed to escape a few seconds after the fire started.

Most of the residents of the premises managed to leave their homes in time, but a woman in her thirties had to be rescued by firefighters.
Authorities believe the fire was of suspicious origin.

“She was seriously injured and was pronounced dead in hospital,” says Béatrice Dorsainville, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
Evidence found at the scene led authorities to believe it was a fire of suspicious origin.
Forensic Identification Services and a fire department technician responded to the scene Tuesday to analyze the situation and better understand what may have happened.

“The building suffered serious damage,” M. clarifies.to me Dorsainville, adding that the investigation is being led by the Crimes Against Persons Unit.
As to whether the building’s tenants were known to police, the Sûreté du Québec is unable to provide that information at this time.
