City festivals and street food festivals attract many visitors to North Rhine-Westphalia this weekend. At the same time, there is the opportunity to visit one of the many fairs in North Rhine-Westphalia. In addition, stores in eight cities open for shopping on Sundays.

On July 5, 2026, stores in eight cities will open for Sunday shopping. This means there is slightly more choice than last week (June 28), when Sunday shopping took place in seven cities. You will be able to shop in these cities on July 5th (in alphabetical order)*:
Sunday shopping in Haltern am See
On Sunday, July 5th, invites Haltern am See for a relaxed shopping experience with the motto “Shop where others go on holiday”. From 13:00. Until 18:00, numerous shops open their doors and offer visitors the opportunity to stroll around the city center and do some shopping. Whether it’s fashion, pleasure or personalized gift ideas – Sunday shopping invites you to discover a wide range of offers and spend a relaxing day in the center of Haltern.
Shops are open on Sundays in Langerwech.
This weekend the city invites Langerwehe to the big summer festival. A varied program with music, practical activities and various exhibitors awaits visitors on Schontalerstrasse from 13:00. to 6:00 pm Bouncy castles and face painting are available for children, and numerous clubs help organize the festival. Additionally, a flea market and interviews with local football figures provide additional entertainment. In parallel with the summer festival, there will be a shopping event on Sundays from 1pm. until 18:00
Sunday shopping in Leichlingen
On Sunday, July 5th, it will be transformed Leichlingen into a stage for art, music and meetings. At 10 Mile Art and Sound, musicians present a varied program of ensembles, bands and choirs on several stages along the pedestrian area. The offer is complemented by artistic events, exhibitions and group events. At the same time, the Leichlingen Association Day takes place, where numerous associations present their work. Stores also open their doors on Sundays from 13:00. until 18:00 and we invite you to take a walk around the city center.
Sunday shopping in Schermbeck
Summer atmosphere and Dutch flavor on the first weekend of July Shermbek on the program: At Sommy 2026 on July 4 and 5, the city center will once again transform into a vibrant festival mile. Visitors can enjoy a popular wine festival featuring winemakers from the Rhine and Rheinhessen, live music, culinary offerings and a Dutch market with typical delicacies and products from the Netherlands. This year the “Schermbecker Tortenschlacht” celebrates its premiere, offering homemade baked goods for a good cause. The program is complemented by shopping on Sundays from 13:00. until 18:00
Sunday shopping in Stralen
From July 3 to July 5, the city center will be transformed. Stralen in the great festival mile. Visitors can enjoy a varied music program featuring numerous local artists at the city’s Stroelse Sommer festival. Bands such as Geile Zeit, Decoy and Roxxboxx provide the best atmosphere on the market stage, and little guests get their money’s worth with a children’s quiz and magic show. In keeping with the summer temperatures, the beach area with a cocktail bar and sun loungers invites you to relax and unwind. In parallel with the city festival, visitors can also go shopping on Sunday from 13:00. until 18:00
Alternatively, you can also visit one of North Rhine-Westphalia’s many flea markets on July 4th and 5th.
