Suki Waterhouse wrote the song Weirdo about her relationship with Robert Pattinson.
The 34-year-old singer, actress and model has a two-year-old daughter with Twilight star Robert, whom she met in 2018, and Suki admitted the latest track on her new album Loveland is about missing her partner when they’re apart.
She told Rolling Stone: “Ever since I had my daughter, we’ve both been in this whirlwind and he’s been in a lot of movies, which means we can’t always be together, which is something I find difficult and something I struggle with.
“This song gives me hope. It feels like there is a feeling in her that we will be together again. We can both do our own thing and be apart, and we’re strong enough—there’s that thread between us.”
Sookie also spoke about how parenthood and her relationship with Robert have changed her.
She said: “For me it was like realizing for the first time that I was in love again. I can be all of these things at once, and I do. And in fact, what I was afraid of, I don’t think I need to be afraid of anymore. I think parenthood has given me more love. It actually helped me improve my own happiness.”
Suki collaborated with Fleetwood Mac’s Mick Fleetwood on the track Morals and admitted it was a full-circle moment after starring in Daisy Jones and the 6, which is loosely based on the band.
She said: “I had this crazy idea – I think it was something like… How could I get Mick Fleetwood to play drums on one of my songs? So I reached out to Mick and said, “Would you be interested, please, would you ever be interested in drumming in Morals?” And he films everything, which is why they sent me so many videos from Hawaii, where he has a studio. He did some amazing takes.”
In response, Fleetwood asked her to work on a track for his record, but Suki admitted that the couple had never met before.
She said: “It was like, ‘You drum on my record, I’ll write a song on your record.’ He actually brought his producer to New York and we recorded all the vocals in New York as well. He was leaving Hawaii for the Harry Styles show. I think that was the only time I was able to catch him.”
