After Sohaib Nair, Jakob Breum, Mamour Ndiaye and Thierno Ballo, Saint-Etienne received a new boost with the arrival of Aron Chongvai. The Budapest-born neo-green scored his first goal for Vasas, a club based in the Hungarian capital. He then joined the Ujpest training center, one of Hungary’s most historic clubs, where he wore the colors for six years, moving from the U17 team to the professional team, for which he made 104 appearances.
After two seasons at Fehérvár, better known in France under its former name Videoton, where he became captain, Aron Chongvai left for Solna, a suburb of the Swedish capital Stockholm, in the summer of 2025 and joined AIK Fotboll, residents of the first division. One exercise was enough for him to convince his supporters and observers in Allsvenskan, the elite of Swedish football.
Between the Championship, Swedish Cup and Conference League qualification, Aron Chongwai made 52 appearances last year, proving to be reliable, valuable in midfield and, at times, decisive, especially with his control over set pieces. Aron Chongvay, also a Hungarian youth player, made his first appearance for the A team in 2025.
At 25, Aron Chongwai joins France and the Forez club. Now committed to ASSE until 2030, the Hungarian international will join Saint-Etienne’s midfield wearing number 14. Welcome, üdvözlés Aron!
Aaron Chongwai: “Joining Saint-Etienne, this incredible club with such history, is a fantastic opportunity. I come with the desire to adapt to this team and this championship as quickly as possible. I think I am a team player who wants to quickly create connections on and off the pitch.”
Loïc Perrin, ASSE Sports Director: “Aron is a defensive midfielder who will bring us strength and influence in this important sector. He is a player with personality, an impeccable mentality and, above all, a reliable profile, capable of playing one match after another.”
