Naomi Osaka gets ankle straps under Karolina Muchova

After four breaks in a row, Muchova remains 3-2 ahead and there is a flare-up in Osaka after she squandered her early lead. Does Osaka have extra straps placed on her right ankle when changing gears, which could be a concern?

Muchova instinctively picks up the ball and volleys to get to a break point, but Osaka, who didn’t face a single break point against Sabalenka in the fourth round, fights off Muchova. She holds on and her team cheers her on, asking for more energy. 3-3 in the first match.

Coco Gauff does everything she can to beat Jessica Pegula and reach her first Wimbledon semi-final

Coco Gauff showed her trademark grit and tenacity as she fought back from a set down to eliminate fourth seed Jessica Pegula of Wimbledon to reach the semi-finals for the first time.

Pegula, who remained the highest seed in the quarterfinals, beat Gauff in the first game and held the lead throughout the first set.

But she was left to rue her inability to take risks and general passivity in the second and third rounds as seventh seed Gauff fought back to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in an hour and 48 minutes.

Novak Djokovic and Felix Auger-Aliassime face a waiting game.

Djokovic’s quarterfinal is scheduled to take place third on Center Court. He will always keep his eye on the all-American showdown between Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula. But it will now also follow the conclusion of Alexander Zverev’s fourth round match with Jiri Legecka, which was played at night due to a curfew at Wimbledon. Zverev led by two sets and paused in the third at 3-3.

Djokovic could have taken legal action after 17:00 BST after the Gauff-Pegula match went into a third set and Lehecka forced a fourth set against Zverev. However, that could come later if Czech 13th seed Legecka can continue his comeback and take Zverev into the fifth set on Center Court.

Up next on Court 1: Naomi Osaka renews Wimbledon bid against Karolina Muchova

Can Naomi Osaka confirm her victory over world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka when she takes to Court No. 1 against 10th-seeded Karolina Muchova? Ironically, this is a repeat of the final in Bad Homburg two weeks ago, from which Osaka bowed out after Muchawa won the first set 6-1.

Osaka’s tennis, as well as her clothes, will be the talk of the town at Wimbledon, and she will propose an appointment with Coco Gauff on Thursday. She also got off to a great start, hitting a forehand to Muchova and taking advantage of the Czech’s mistake to secure the first break.

Coco Gauff reached the semi-finals

Coco Gauff reacts to reaching the semi-finals: “Honestly it’s crazy considering I haven’t won a match on grass in two years leading up to this tournament! Really happy with how I played today, Jess is an incredible competitor and person and it’s never easy to play against her.

“Jess’s ball is so flat and low that I just had to trust that being here in the rallies, I started serving more on the first serve and just trusting my shot. I made too many mistakes in the first set, speeding up the rallies too quickly. I just felt like the last two sets were really great sets. I played three sets in the last few sets, (you have to) have that kind of faith in yourself when the match goes the distance, when you lose the first set, You’re not panicking.”

Asked how she copes with the expectations placed on her after her breakthrough here in 2019, she laughs and says: “Maybe some people, I think a lot of people got me eliminated in the first or second round! I’m just happy to make it to the semi-finals. I wasn’t nervous, I don’t know if I’m becoming a veterinarian or… It’s a beautiful court, (waiting) I looked at the decorations and the artwork and I had to say to myself, look at the door and concentrate on the match.”

PLAY, SETUP AND MATCH! Jessica Pegula 6-4 3-6 3-6 Coco Gauff

Jessica Pegula was not at the races today. Gauff holds the ball brilliantly and tenaciously for a 5-3 lead and then beats Pegula when the fourth seed serves to stay in the match, sending the ball long and then into the net on match point.

– My God, how? Gauff seems to be saying, grinning as he looks at his box.

She reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon for the first time!

HAVE A FUCK! Jessica Pegula 6–4 3–6 3–4 Coco Gauff*

Pegula cannot confirm this impressive breakthrough; Gauff nuclears the return to take a 0-40 lead, then a sharp return throws Pegula off-balance and she cuts the tape, the ball falling limply onto her side and it’s a terrible serve broken at love. The momentum returns with Gauff.
