The director of content for Yea Alabama, a name, image and likeness initiative for Alabama athletics, was arrested Thursday for soliciting prostitution during a human trafficking operation in Shelby County, Alabama.
Robert Aaron Suttles was among 15 men arrested in an operation conducted by the Shelby County Drug Task Force. According to court records, Suttles allegedly paid $100 for the sexual activity. The 49-year-old man was released from jail after posting $1,000 bail.
“We will not tolerate the targeting of vulnerable women here in Shelby County,” Lt. Clayton Smith, commander of the task force, said in a statement. “…We have a responsibility to protect them, just like any other citizen.”
Suttles, a former sports reporter for The Tuscaloosa News and The Athletic, has overseen Yea Alabama content since its 2023 launch. A Yea Alabama spokesperson told AL.com that Suttles is suspended and will not perform work for the organization while the lawsuit and internal investigation unfold.
