MoonAgents, MoonPay’s AI assistant, is now available on Telegram powered by MoonPay. Telegram is where cryptocurrency already lives. More than a billion people use the application, hundreds of millions open it every day. Widgets and trading tools move billions of dollars through the platform. MoonAgents now directly meets users there.
Here’s how it works in practice. Type “exchange $200 to Bitcoin” or “how much is ETH now” to your Telegram agent. It understands the request, prepares an action, and asks for your confirmation before anything is executed. No commands. No menus. Just plain English. This is what sets MoonAgents apart from the trading tools already available on Telegram. Most of them require users to learn certain syntax or navigate through layers of menus. MoonAgents inverts this model. You describe what you want, and your agent figures out how to get it done.
“MoonAgents on Telegram reflects where we think cryptocurrency is heading,” said Ivan Soto-Wright, co-founder and CEO of MoonPay. “People want to manage their assets through natural communication, not by learning new interfaces. Meeting Telegram users, where every action is backed by the same reliable infrastructure, is a natural extension of this vision.”
Control remains with the user at every stage. Nothing moves without explicit confirmation, and private keys are stored on the user’s computer. They never touch MoonPay or Telegram servers. Telegram simply becomes a new way to connect with the same agent that already works in the MoonAgents desktop app, with the same wallet and the same capabilities that are now available from the phone.
To get started, download the MoonAgents desktop app at Moonpay.com/agents and then create a bot on Telegram using @BotFather. Copy the bot token it gives you and paste it along with your Telegram username into the desktop app to securely link the two. From there, connect your MoonPay account, add funds to your agent wallet, and start chatting with your agent on Telegram to confirm every action as you go.
With MoonAgents on Telegram, users can check prices and research assets, exchange tokens, buy cryptocurrency with fiat money through the MoonPay platform, track portfolio balances and send transfers. It all runs on the same regulated infrastructure that powers MoonPay’s wider payment network.
This launch builds on a broader push to bring MoonAgents wherever people already use AI. The desktop app came first, followed by MCP connectors for tools like Claude and Perplexity. Telegram is the next step in this expansion, extending the same agent to mobile devices.
“People don’t have to learn special commands to use their own money,” said Kevin Arifin, head of agents at MoonPay. “Now you can simply tell your AI assistant what you want to do, right from Telegram, and be in complete control all the time.”
