Hibernian have signed “athletic, aggressive and technically sound” former Scotland Under-21 midfielder Azeem Abdoulaye from Leyton Orient for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old footballer received a three-year contract with the Scottish Premier League club.
Abdoulaye was born in Glasgow and rose through the youth teams of Celtic, Leicester City and Swansea City before making his first-team breakthrough at the Welsh club.
He was sold to Orient in January 2025 and has since made 65 appearances for the League One club, 41 of them last season, 22 of them as a starter, finishing 20th out of 24 teams.
Hibs head coach David Gray said on his club website: “Azeem is exactly the profile we need – he is athletic, aggressive, skilled on the ball and will play box to box.”
“He gives us more options in midfield and it creates healthy competition for places.”
Abdoulaye, who has a year left on his contract at Orient, will become Hibs’ third signing this summer following the arrivals of centre-half Jason Kerr from Wigan Athletic and midfielder Callum Wright from Plymouth Argyle.
