LONDON, ENGLAND - MAY 20: Monty Don attends the RHS Chelsea Flower Show at the Royal Chelsea Hospital on May 20, 2024 in London, England. All major garden categories are returning to the Royal Chelsea Hospital this year. The show gardens along Main Avenue, the Sanctuary and Specialty Gardens focus on gardening themes, while the All About Plants area in the Flower Marquee focuses on planting. This year has been declared the most sustainable to date. (Photo by Jeff Spicer/Getty Images)

Monty Don’s Garden in Herefordshire, Longmeadow, is widely known as the home of BBC Gardeners’ World. It is understood the gardening expert purchased the two-acre property in 1991 when it was little more than an empty field.

With limited funds but plenty of time, the gardener spent the next spring and summer roughly cutting the grass and clearing away debris.

He said he had been planning, dreaming and drawing all this time. Today it exists as a beautifully created, wildlife-friendly reserve filled with seasonal plantings, abundant borders and carefully designed areas.

Although images of his home remain relatively private, the garden has been the subject of attention for many years.

Where does Monty Don live?

The gardener previously told English Home about his place of residence and the reasons for choosing this particular place.

He said: “I live near the small town of Leominster in Herefordshire, close to the Welsh border.”

As for why he chose the area, he said it was “quite far away” from London’s commuter areas, making it more accessible.

He described his home as an oak-beamed Tudor hall with 10 workshops and studios.

The garden is divided into four parts: the Cottage Garden, the Jewel Garden, the Garden of Eden and the Vegetable Garden.

Documenting the garden’s history on his blog, Monty wrote: “Planting began in earnest in the spring of 1993 and has never stopped since. The changes have been dramatic and may seem surprising to some.

“But in my mind, that early field with its pattern of wicker fences protecting the little plants, so small but filled with dreams, is still under the skin, still here, under all the years.”

Viewers regularly see different areas of his garden on Gardeners’ World, including the variety of plants and vegetables Monty grows.

The market town of Leominster is located in northern Herefordshire. Both the town and its surrounding villages provide an ideal base from which to explore the border areas of England and Wales.

It attracts a significant number of visitors due to its historical sites, charming streets and magnificent gardens.

The city is believed to have developed around a great Anglo-Saxon abbey founded in 660 AD.

Situated just 10 minutes from Hereford town centre, residents have easy access to a range of shops, restaurants and bars.

According to Rightmove, the average property price in Leominster over the past year was £237,089.
