According to meteorologists, the southwest monsoon may cover the remaining parts of the northern Arabian Sea, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab and some other parts of Rajasthan in the next two days. Due to this, rain is likely to increase further in North India.
The meteorological department said that several weather systems are currently operating simultaneously, causing rainfall to increase in different parts of the country. A seasonal depression forms from Punjab to the northern Bay of Bengal. A cyclonic circulation is active around North Bay of Bengal and South Bangladesh. Under its influence, a new low pressure area is likely to form in northwest Bay of Bengal around July 3, which may further intensify rainfall over eastern and central India.
Apart from this, a cyclonic circulation is also present over East Bihar. The marine trench is active from Maharashtra to the North Kerala coast and another trench extends from Madhya Pradesh to the east-central Arabian Sea. Due to all these weather conditions, good rainfall is expected to continue in many states across the country over the next few days.
As for today (July 2), according to Skymet, Konkan Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, parts of interior Karnataka, South Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Chhattisgarh may experience moderate to heavy rain. Heavy rain is likely at some places in Telangana, Lakshadweep, Andaman Nicobar Islands, North East India and Sikkim.
Light to moderate rain is expected in Western Himalayan states, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Eastern Rajasthan and Gujarat. Light rain may also be seen in coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu.
