NEW YORK (AP) — The match between England and Mexico in the round of 16 was the most-watched English-language World Cup match in the country’s history that did not include the United States, according to Fox.
The network said Wednesday that an average of more than 21.7 million people watched England’s 3-2 win in Mexico City on Sunday night. This beats the previous record for the final between Argentina and France in 2022, which was watched by 16.7 million people.
Telemundo, the Spanish-language network, announced that the England-Mexico match reached an audience of 23.2 million and became the most-watched match among Spanish-speaking audiences, surpassing the previous record of 18.9 million set by Mexico-Ecuador in the previous round.
Fox reported more than 25.7 million viewers from 10:15 to 10:30 p.m. THIS. The match between the USA and Belgium next night will be the most watched, with 30 million.
