Work to repair part of the concrete slab of the Honoré-Mercier Bridge will result in a lengthy closure of the section that normally leads to Montreal’s south shore during construction holidays.
As such, traffic on the other deck will be in the opposite direction and will be limited to one lane in each direction from 11pm this Friday. until Monday, August 3 at 5 a.m.
The bridge entrance from Airlie Street will also be closed during this period.
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility is warning motorists of the significant risk of congestion and urging them to avoid the sector.

To mitigate the impact of the road closure, the Airlie Street public transport lane will be open seven days a week, from midday to 7pm.
Hours of operation for the reserved lane on Highway 138 heading towards Montreal will also be extended from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the work.
In addition, during peak hours, trucks with three or more axles will not be able to use the bridge on weekdays from 5:00 to 9:30 in the direction of Montreal and from 15:00. until 19:00 towards the South Bank.
Two lanes of the Victoria Bridge will be reserved for traffic towards Montreal in the morning and towards the South Bank in the evening.
Other obstacles to expect
As was the case at the beginning of June, work planned for the Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) will result in a late opening of the service on Saturday and Sunday. The first carriages will start moving at 7:30 am.
There are also plans to close traffic on the eastern A-40 in Repentigny until August 21 to allow for asphalting.
