17 people, including Malayalees, were arrested in the biggest drug bust in Bengaluru city in recent times. Mohammad Omarullah Farooq was caught with 2 kg of hydro ganja while selling at HBR Layout store. The hydroganja seized from him is worth Rs 2 crore in the market. Harris was also arrested along with him, but it is unclear whether he is a Malayalis. Apart from this, drugs were also recovered during searches in Madiwala, Rajaji Nagar, Tilak Nagar, Whitefield, Subrahmanya Nagar and Yeshwantpur.
The biggest bust of drug peddlers took place at Madanaikkanahalli police station. Police said 10 kg of MDMA worth Rs 21 crore was seized from three Nigerians here. Police found that they were distributing drugs to IT employees and students from rented houses. 8 of those arrested are from other states. Among them is Dastagiri, a native of Gundalpeta, who was arrested by Madiwala police and was earlier involved in robbery cases, police said. Also seized were 10 kg of MDMA, 127 kg of cannabis, 3 kg of hydro-cannabis, 300 electronic cigarettes and hookahs. The police also seized a car, 6 two-wheelers and 7 mobile phones from the arrested persons.
