EXCLUSIVE: Jimmy Tatro is in talks to appear on air Superman spin-off series DC Crime as Gorilla Grodd, sources close to the production tell Deadline. The news comes before the Jimmy Olsen series has officially been greenlit.
DC describes the character as “a hyperintelligent telepathic ape who sought to rule both the simian and human worlds, although his plans were often thwarted by the Flash.”
HBO Max and DCS declined to comment.
DC Crime is billed as a true crime documentary starring Jimmy Olsen from Superman host (played by Skyler Gisondo in James Gunn’s summer blockbuster). The first season will reportedly center around DC bad guy Gorilla Grodd, who often fights The Flash. Grodd gained psychic abilities and other skills after an encounter with an alien spaceship. The character was created in 1959 and even starred in a former DC series. Arrow-verse.

DC Crime comes from Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault, creators of Netflix American Vandal series, a crime satirical series that aired in 2017–2018. They will write the script, become executive producers and show the series. DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran are EPs, with Galen Weissman overseeing production. Warner Bros. Television is also producing.
Tatro was last seen in Scream 7from Kevin Williamson and Paramount Pictures. His works include Netflix American Vandalstreaming series Real Brothers from Simi Valley and ABC Modern family And Home Economics.
