An incident involving an oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz was reported on Saturday, with Tehran saying it, for its part, stopped four ships attempting to cross the strategic sea route, according to Britain’s maritime safety agency UKMTO.

The agency “received a report of an incident involving an oil tanker and military forces in the Gulf of Oman,” the agency said in a statement, amid clashes between the United States and Iran in the strategic global hydrocarbon shipping region.
The Revolutionary Guards then said they had “stopped” four ships attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz “in the last 24 hours” after firing warning shots, usually carried out using missiles.
Iran has regularly prevented ships from passing through the strategic strait since the US-Iran memorandum of understanding allowing its opening in mid-July was violated.
