With just a few months left until the expected launch, rumors about Apple’s next flagship smartphones, the iPhone 18 Pro models, are gaining momentum.
Many potential customers typically hold off on iPhone purchases right before Apple’s fall event, but this year might be a little different. The company raised prices on several major product lines last month, but the iPhone was not included, so you may be wondering whether to buy an iPhone now or wait to see what the iPhone 18 Pro has to offer and how much it will cost.

To make things easier, we’ve rounded up the biggest iPhone 18 Pro rumors we’ve ever heard. While these features and prices have not yet been confirmed, they should help give an idea of what to expect from Apple’s next big smartphones.
iPhone 18 Pro: updated line
The biggest rumor about the iPhone 18 lineup is its release schedule. Unlike previous years, when Apple released four phones of the same series at a time, Bloomberg reports that Apple may take a two-pronged approach to ensure stable revenue throughout the year.
Flagship phones such as the iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max and the world’s first foldable iPhone could be unveiled in September, while the base iPhone 18, iPhone Air 2 and iPhone 18e could launch in spring 2027. We discussed the foldable iPhone in detail in a separate rumor roundup, so we’ll stick to the Pro models here.
iPhone 18 Pro: design and colors
Since the iPhone 17 Pro models have undergone major design changes, with a new camera plateau and dual-tone color scheme, Apple isn’t expected to change the look much in 2026.
However, the colors could be a little bolder. Several sources, including Sonny Dixon and Instant Digital, claim that Apple may use never-before-seen cherry red and new light blue colors along with the usual dark gray. Dixon also shared photos of potential mannequins, including a light gray one.

The look of the back is expected to remain the same, but the feel in the hand may be very different. Ice Universe claims that the iPhone 18 Pro Max battery may become slightly larger, resulting in increased weight and bulk. More precisely, the author of the message expects the device to be 0.25 mm thicker and 7 grams heavier.
iPhone 18 Pro display
Up front we saw one significant change. According to Ice Universe, the dynamic island, or camera cutout, can be reduced by 35%. This won’t reduce the overall functionality of the feature, but it may move the Face ID sensor backlight to one corner below the screen.

When it comes to display sizes, the general consensus is that the iPhone 18 Pro will have a regular 6.3-inch screen, while the Pro Max will have a 6.9-inch one. However, Apple is reportedly insisting that suppliers provide much brighter displays and can use more energy-efficient LTPO+ display technology.
iPhone 18 Pro cameras
In the iPhone 17 Pro line, the resolution of all three cameras has been increased to 48 MP. As for the iPhone 18 Pro, the biggest camera rumor we’ve heard concerns variable aperture. While the iPhone 17 models had a fixed aperture, the iPhone 18 Pro may have a variable aperture. ETNews reports that the modified system is already in production and will help cameras deliver more light to the sensors in dark environments and less light in bright environments.
iPhone 18 Pro Performance
The iPhone 18 Pro will likely get a performance boost thanks to the A20 chip. It will use TSMC’s 2nm technology, which is an upgrade from the previous generation’s 3nm technology. The transition will increase the number of transistors on each chip, but will also increase the cost of the chips by 50%, reports MacRumors.
The chip is also rumored to use TSMC’s Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module (WMCM) technology, which puts RAM on the same wafer as the CPU, GPU, and neural engine. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, it is generally expected to be more efficient and faster than the A19 chips.

Apple typically reserves the base variant of its series of chips for standard iPhone models, with Pro models receiving a matching Pro chip. With the iPhone 18 series, Apple is reportedly considering offering only a high-end variant across the entire lineup.
Another expected update concerns the modem. The iPhone 17 Pro models had a third-party modem, but the iPhone 18 Pro could get the company’s proprietary C2 modem. According to MacRumors, it will support 5G satellite communications and reduce the amount of location data stored by networks.
battery for iPhone 18 Pro
Apple never reveals its battery capacity, but multiple sources point to a larger, more efficient battery for the iPhone 18 Pro Max. According to Digital Chat Station, the top-end variant will have a capacity of up to 5,200mAh, which is slightly better than its predecessor’s 5,088mAh capacity. With a more efficient modem and processor, battery life can be significantly longer. On the other hand, the iPhone 18 Pro may see a minimal increase from 4252 mAh to 4288 mAh.
iPhone 18 Pro: price and release
Decision making largely depends on this. Apple has avoided raising prices on its biggest source of revenue, but rising memory and storage costs are inevitable, by CEO Tim Cook’s own admission.
Common sense dictates that an iPhone price increase in September is inevitable. According to Wall Street Journal‘s With rising component costs, it’s estimated that the iPhone 18 Pro will start at $1,299. If you combine this with Apple’s recent trends, the iPhone 18 Pro Max could be priced $100 higher, with a starting price of $1,399. By comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro starts at $1,099 and the 17 Pro Max starts at $1,199.
The iPhone 18 Pro release date has not yet been determined. As usual, we expect Apple to unveil the lineup at its annual fall event in September and begin shipping the devices a few days later.
