After touring England, the Indian cricket team is now all set to play a three-match T20 series against Zimbabwe. The first match between the two teams will take place on July 23 in Harare. In this series, the command of India will be in the hands of Shreyas Iyer. Four new faces have been included in the Indian squad and it is expected that one or more of these players may get a chance to make their international T20 debut.

The Indian selectors included wicket-keeper Prabhsimran Singh, all-rounder Harsh Dubey and fast bowlers Ashok Sharma and Yash Thakur in the T20 team for the first time. All four players performed consistently brilliantly in domestic cricket and the IPL, as a result of which they received tickets to the national team.

Prabhsimran Singh: Punjab Kings’ explosive wicketkeeper-batsman Prabhsimran Singh has been impressing with his aggressive batting in the IPL for a long time now. He also has a chance to be part of the India-A team. Prabhasimran, who is the top batting player, is also seen as a future backup wicket-keeper.

He has so far scored 3665 runs in 129 T20 matches at a strike rate of 151.50. In the IPL, he scored 1815 runs in 65 matches at a strike rate of 156.

Harsh Dubey: 23-year-old all-rounder Harsh Dubey made his debut for India during the ODI series against Afghanistan in June 2026. He proved his worth by taking four wickets in two matches. Apart from batting effectively in the lower order, Dubey can also take consistent wickets with left-arm spin. He has taken 34 wickets in 38 T20 matches at an economy rate of 7.57. Even in the IPL, he took 13 wickets in 11 matches.

Ashok Sharma: 24-year-old fast bowler Ashok Sharma made headlines by taking the most wickets in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy last domestic season. His greatest strength is bowling at over 150 kmph, making him one of India’s select fast bowlers.

Representing Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026, he took six wickets in six matches. He has 28 wickets in just 16 T20 matches.

Yash Thakur: Vidarbha fast bowler Yash Thakur is also included in Team India’s new fast bowling hopes. Along with domestic cricket, he has consistently produced impressive performances in limited overs cricket for India. Yash, 27, has taken 110 wickets in 74 T20 matches so far. His record in the IPL was also excellent with 27 wickets in 22 matches.

Who will get the chance to debut?
Ahead of the first T20 match in Harare on July 23, the biggest question is which of these four new players the team management trusts. Prabhsimran can give the team an additional wicketkeeping option while Harsh Dubey will add balance as an all-rounder. While Ashok Sharma and Yash Thakur have the opportunity to add a new edge in the fast bowling department. In such a situation, depending on the team composition, one or more players may receive the first T20 cap for India.
