The three-match T20 series between India and Zimbabwe starts on July 23 in Harare. Speaking to Geostar ahead of this match, Raza said that playing international cricket at such a young age is a great achievement, so it would be wrong to judge a player based on two or three matches.
Raza said: Vaibhav is a very talented cricketer. If a 15-year-old boy plays international cricket, it is completely unfair to criticize him after just two or three matches.
He further said that there are many experienced Indian cricketers in Vaibhav district. If the team management handles and develops him properly, he can become the biggest star of the new generation of cricket in the coming years.
Didn’t tour England
Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his debut for India in the T20 series against England. However, his performance did not live up to expectations. He scored 14, 13 and 15 runs in three innings respectively. Of these, fast bowler Joffra Archer dismissed him twice on short balls. India had to face a 0-4 defeat in this series.

Now Vaibhav returns to the same Harare where he won the title for India with an explosive innings of 175 runs off 80 balls against England in the U-19 World Cup final in January. Sanju Samson is not part of the current Indian team, so there is every chance that Vaibhav will get regular opportunities in the top order.
Raza said: “What Vaibhav has done in the last year, the performances he has had for India U-19 and making his international debut at such a young age are no small achievements. These days you rarely see stories like this. Vaibhav is truly a special player. The most important thing will be how to deal with it.
Not India, both teams have equal chances
Sikandar Raza also refused to consider India as one-sided favorites in the series. He says Zimbabwe has consistently played better and more aggressive cricket so this series will be very exciting.
He said: “In my opinion, both countries have an equal chance of winning the series. Zimbabwe has been playing consistently good and exciting cricket for some time now. So I’m sure this series will be very exciting.
Zimbabwe caused a major upset to the country by defeating Australia by 23 runs in the T20 World Cup held in Colombo in February this year. Due to this defeat, Australia were eliminated from the group stage themselves. Apart from this, Zimbabwe also won against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh this year.

Raza admitted that India plays very aggressive cricket and if its batting fails, the match could get out of control.
He said, “If you ever hit the ball in India, it could throw you out of the match.” But his style is high-risk cricket. In many cases, this strategy does not work, and if a big score is not achieved, the opposing team has a chance to win the match.
Both teams are going through a period of change.
Captain Zimbabwe said both India and Zimbabwe are going through a period of change. It is for this reason that he does not consider this series to be one-sided.
He said: India is going through a period of transition and to some extent Zimbabwe is also preparing a new team. That’s why I don’t think this series is one-sided at all.
India-Zimbabwe relations also received high praise
Raza also praised the cricketing relationship between India and Zimbabwe. He said playing against India gives Zimbabwe’s players an opportunity to learn a lot and gain experience.
He said: India has always been a good friend of Zimbabwe cricket. Playing against reigning world champions India is very beneficial for us in terms of player development and experience.
The second and third T20 matches between India and Zimbabwe will also be played in Harare on July 25 and 26.
