A Category 2 (EF2) tornado struck forests in the Laurentian region of Quebec on September 1.is last July confirmed the Northern Tornado Project (NTP) at Western University.

This meteorological event caused significant damage to the forested area around Igloo Lake, approximately 250 km northwest of Montreal.

The tornado reached a maximum speed of 215 km/h, NTP said.
Thanks to satellite imagery, the university organization was able to confirm that the tornado left a large footprint in the forest.

This is the third tornado confirmed in Quebec in 2026.
The first occurred on May 25 in Saint-Thomas-Didim, Saguenay.
A second tornado struck Lakefield in the Laurentian Mountains on June 18.
Three tornadoes did not cause any casualties.
