The family of a British couple detained in Iran say they are “desperately concerned” by reports they are being denied supplies and medical care.

Craig and Lindsay Forman refused to eat for nine and eight weeks, respectively, due to prison conditions, family said.

According to the Human Rights Advocates Information Agency (Hrana), Lindsay Foreman has lost more than 14 kg (31 lb) and suffers from severe dizziness, tremors and profound physical weakness.

Her family says she is now “dangerously weak”.

The US agency also reported that Craig Foreman, who first went on strike when phone access was cut off, lost about 16 kg (35 lb).

In a letter published on Tuesday, the family wrote to the East Sussex couple: “Please remember that you are loved by so many people.

“We need your voices, your presence, your laughter and your company.

“We need you well. We need you alive.”
