The heat continues. Since Sunday 5 July, London has experienced eight days of heat waves with daily maximum temperatures above 28°C.

The London Fire Brigade is warning of an “extreme” risk of bushfires in the capital today (Monday) as the city enjoys another warm day with little to no bright sunshine.

What’s the forecast for this week?

Monday is expected to be dry and warm, with temperatures reaching around 27C, according to the Met Office.

However, it will become hotter again on Tuesday with a forecast high of 31 degrees. The rest of the week also looks warm and dry, with daytime highs reaching 30C on Wednesday, 29C on Thursday and 27C on Friday.

Are there any changes in the weather expected?

While the Met Office sees little change in drought-like conditions in its seven-day forecast for London, BBC Weather is forecasting a 50% chance of rain for most of the day on Friday and Saturday.

After this, a return to mostly dry and sunny weather is forecast, with maximum temperatures of 27 to 29 degrees between Sunday 19 July and Friday 24 July.

Thunderstorms on the horizon?

At the time of writing (11:4am on Monday 13 July), BBC Weather was forecasting thunderstorms in London on Saturday 25 July, giving up to a 60% chance of occurring at 60%.
