First Time College Enrollment News

WASHINGTON, DC —We understand that the enrollment announcement released yesterday is difficult and disappointing for students and their families. Howard University provided students and their families new to college with numerous detailed communications throughout March, April, May, June and July about the steps required to ensure enrollment for the fall 2026 semester.. Notifications included emails, personalized financial aid information, videos and Bison Prep sessions to help incoming students understand tuition requirements, payment plan options, the external scholarship reporting process and the time frame required for their enrollment.
Students who fail to comply with payment deadlines, disbursement procedures, scholarships and other financial aid are notified that the University can no longer hold their place in the new class. As Howard completes enrollment for the fall 2026 semester, which begins August 17, confirmation of enrollment is essential for planning academic programs, housing, financial aid and student support services.
We understand that the recent student enrollment update may have impacted some students who have pending outside scholarships and other financial aid resources. The University will review information regarding expected scholarship and other financial aid funding where appropriate and will consider the appropriate circumstances presented regarding expected scholarship and financial aid resources.
