With Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Yana Supervisor all scheduled for release on July 23rd, pre-sales of tickets in overseas markets have started very actively. Booking has opened in several international territories and more screens and shows are expected to be added. According to Satznilk, early reports suggest that Yana Supervisor As of July 16, pre-orders have crossed Rs 4 crore worldwide.
As previously reported by NDTV, shows in South India will begin from 6 am on July 23, while in Tamil Nadu, the first shows will begin from 9 am. In fact, Bangalore was the first city in India to open ticket sales, with a 6 am show for Yana Supervisor July 23rd is almost sold out as can be seen on BookMyShow.
It is often heard that tickets for Vijay or Ajith Kumar films are selling for Rs 1,000 per ticket in Tamil Nadu on the first day of release, but this is unlikely to happen for Yana Supervisor as Vijay is now the Chief Minister.
Sources say he has advised his team to be extra careful while selling and pricing the tickets as he doesn’t want any controversy or to be seen as condescending considering it is his film. It is reported that theaters will also be monitored to ensure that they do not sell tickets at a price higher than the government-approved price.
Talking to NDTV about ticket sales in Tamil Nadu, which will begin on July 19, Tamil film financier and distributor Tiruppur Subramaniam said that the first day tickets will sell out quickly thanks to Vijay’s fans.
“Other states have flexible ticket pricing, so we see in states like Karnataka tickets being sold between Rs 800 and Rs 1,000. However, in Tamil Nadu there are fixed prices and we cannot sell a ticket for more than 190 rupees. And this is the price at which tickets will be sold here. Since Vijay is a big star in Tamil Nadu and is now the Chief Minister, we expect the film to do well,” he added.
Another producer, speaking on condition of anonymity, told NDTV that Vijay’s fan clubs are currently not going to buy tickets in bulk for July 23. “Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, will buy the tickets and distribute them to its members, but they will not be sold at a high price. Thalapathy is strict in this regard,” he added.
In North India, the KVN Productions film will be released in around 1,500-2,000 theaters and this is due to audience demand, highlights Pankaj Jaisingh, Director, Vibe Media Works and Distributor.
“The demand for Vijay’s upcoming film Jana Nayagan is extremely high, prompting distributors to plan a massive theatrical release for the film. Viewers are very interested in Vijay now that he is also the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Yana Supervisor is set to benefit from a clear July 24 release window as there will be no major Hindi competition in the northern markets, which is also likely to boost cinema footfall. In fact, in Tamil speaking centers (like Malad, Sion and Andheri) in Mumbai, performances will be held from 4 am on July 23!”
As of now, Janu Nayagan Vijay is highly anticipated, especially since the opening title card is expected to read, “Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu S. Joseph Vijay.” Directed by H Vinoth, the film also stars Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamita Baiju, Prakash Raj and Gautham Vasudev Menon. Anirudh Ravichander’s music has already topped the charts.
However, the big question on everyone’s mind is whether Tamil Nadu CM Vijay will be able to see the FDFS of his latest film in theaters along with his fans. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
