Everything you need to know ahead of Newcastle Racecourse's Ladies Day 'sale'

Ladies Day is Newcastle Racecourse’s premier fashion and racing event, held annually at Gosforth Park and combines a full day of thoroughbred racing with the famous Style Awards best dressed competition.

This year’s event, which takes place on Saturday (July 25), will be the biggest in more than a decade, with more than 20,000 horse racing fans expected to attend Gosforth Park this Saturday.

What to expect on this day

Gates open at 11am, with seven races taking place between 1.35pm and 5.10pm, and organizers say demand has been so strong that this year’s event will sell out for the first time in years.

Paul Elliott, chief executive of Newcastle Racecourse, said: “Demand for Ladies Day this year has been incredible and we expect tickets to sell out for the first time in many years.

“We’ve introduced some fantastic additions to the event this year, including brand new food, drink and post-race entertainment that race fans will love.

“It remains a real highlight of the North East’s social calendar and we can’t wait to welcome everyone this Saturday.”

Ticket and drink offers

With 95% of grandstand tickets already sold and Premier tickets expected to sell out within 24 hours, horse racing fans are urged to book their tickets now to avoid missing out.

Anyone hoping to beat the queues can buy priority entry tickets for £10 until Friday 24 July, with 50% off select drinks and £10 off house wine, prosecco, champagne and jugs of Pimm’s for the first hour after gates open.

Style Awards

The Style Awards return in 2026 with a record prize fund of over £11,000 for the top 10 best dressed guests, including luxury holidays, spa treatments, shopping vouchers and beauty treatments from regional brands.

Spotters from Tyne Tees Models Management will be surveying the crowd throughout the day and contenders will be invited to pose for photos in the grandstand area before judging begins in the parade ring at 3.30pm when the overall winner will be announced.

Full details of the dress code can be found on the Newcastle Racecourse website.

Bingo Bongo and after party

Bongo’s Bingo returns about 30 minutes after racing ends with a 90-minute DJ set of ’90s dance anthems from N-Trance before the main party.

Shuttle buses will operate from GOALS from 4.30pm to 9pm, taking racegoers first to the Say When bar in Gosforth and then to the Tup Tup Palace in Newcastle city center for the official Ladies’ Day party.
