This is a case that is very close. Liv Süchting on the website GoFundMe – touching call started. She writes: “Hello! My name is Liv Züchting, I am 26 years old. At the age of 22, I was diagnosed with stage IV black skin cancer – with metastases in several organs. Day by day, my world turned upside down.”

In previous years, she had developed into a promising handball player: she played for Buxtehuder SV in the Bundesliga, and in 2022 won world championship gold with the national beach handball team after winning the European Championships – “successes that I am still incredibly proud of,” writes Süchting.

Handball player Liv Suechting hopes for special therapy

Since her diagnosis, she has undergone several treatments and “exhausted all options” – “unfortunately, without the success she was hoping for.” However, the Nienburg native sees opportunity in specialized therapy. However, this is not offered in Germany. Her state health insurance doesn’t cover the treatment either, Suechting says. Cost: 250,000 euros. To fund the therapy, the 26-year-old man turned to the public on Thursday. “Any support – no matter the amount – brings me closer to my goal and gives me the opportunity to benefit from this therapy. I thank you for this from the bottom of my heart.”

And: just a day after publication, the call was a huge success. Almost 300,000 euros have been donated there so far, with the largest individual donation being 10,000 euros. A bright sign of solidarity.
