A great honor for one of our great athletes. ZDF is currently producing a documentary about the fatal accident. Biathlon-Olympic champion Laura Dahlmeier (†31).
This was confirmed by the public broadcaster German Press Agency. The documentary about the seven-time world champion will last 90 minutes and will be shown on television in the winter. The exact date is not yet known. The documentary film is produced by Group 5 Filmproduktion GmbH. Several people from her circle will also have their say in the documentary.
Dahlmeier has been a ZDF expert since 2019.
Dahlmeier had a special relationship with the ZDF. After the early end of her biathlon career, she worked as a television expert on the Public TV Channel in 2019.
Dahlmeier died on July 28, 2025, in a climbing accident on Leila Peak in Pakistan’s Karakoram Mountains, when she was hit by falling rocks while descending at 5,700 meters and suffered fatal injuries. It was not possible to return her body. Dahlmeier remained in her favorite mountains.
