Three years after little Emile Soleil disappeared, the investigation continues. According to information from ProvenceThe massive DNA sampling campaign, which was decided in March last year, has ended. In the spring, 106 people were affected by it: residents of Upper and Lower Verne, owners of second homes, forest regulars and even tourists. All of them were present near the Alpine commune on July 8, 2023.

Foreign DNA detected

On this early summer day, a little boy disappeared while on vacation with his maternal grandparents at the family’s second home in Haute Verne. Some of his bones and clothes were discovered a year later, in the spring of 2024.

DNA foreign to the family was found on those remains, prompting an extensive sampling campaign to try to identify it. The collected DNA samples have already been transferred to the laboratory, which was able to analyze them, the regional newspaper reports. The results were sent to the investigating judges in Aix-en-Provence responsible for the case.
