On Saturday, CSD will be celebrated in central Frankfurt, followed by a pro-Palestinian demonstration a little later. Police warn of short-term road closures and cancellation of public transport.

Frankfurt – On Saturday, July 18, there will be a full day of events in Frankfurt – not without consequences. Several registered rallies and demonstrations ensure a full city center and significant traffic restrictions.

Christopher Street Day takes place downtown from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thousands of participants want to send a visible message of acceptance, equality and rights for the queer community. The CSD demonstration will begin at 11 am with a rally and the raising of the rainbow flag on the balcony of the Römer Hotel. The rally will end at 11:30. The demo route starts at 12:00. near Römer and then leads through the city center. It ends on the banks of the Sachsenhäusser River at around 16:30.

In addition, on Saturday there will be a pro-Palestinian demonstration entitled “Resistance is an international right: Palestine can defend itself even with stones and weapons!” take place. It is scheduled to start at 15:00. at Opernplatz. The subsequent demonstration is planned to take place through Westend to Friedberger Platz in Nordend, where the rally will end at 21:30.

The planned event caused a stir in advance. The city of Frankfurt banned the speaker from speaking at the demonstration. However, on Friday the Constitutional Court declared the ban illegal – the presumption of innocence applies, the judges ruled.

Frankfurt police stressed

“Plan extra time, check current traffic conditions before you travel, and avoid city centers if possible,” it said.
