CHICAGO — The Cubs acquired right-hander Aaron Civale and cash consideration from the Athletics for minor league right-hander Aiden Moffett after beating Minnesota 6-2 on Saturday.

This will be Chivale’s second tour with Chicago’s pitching-depleted pitching after splitting the 2025 season between the Brewers, White Sox and Cubs. He is 5-7 with a 5.42 ERA in 16 games (15 starts) this season with the Athletics, which designated him for assignment on Wednesday.

Chivale, 31, signed a one-year contract with the Athletics in February. On August 31, 2025, the Cubs claimed him off waivers.
