Chief Minister Visits DGP Office in Tripura Following Report of His Suicide, Official Statement Awaited

A high-level emergency situation unfolded at the office of the Director General of Police (DGP), Tripura on Monday morning, prompting Chief Minister Prof (Dr) Manik Saha to personally visit the premises.
The Chief Minister arrived at the DGP’s office soon after news of his suicide broke. However, he did not speak to reporters waiting outside and no official statement was made immediately after his visit.
Several senior police officers and government officials were seen at the DGP’s office as authorities responded to the situation. Police have not yet released an official statement regarding the nature of the incident.
Information circulating from unofficial sources contained various allegations, but these were not officially confirmed by the Tripura government or the Tripura Police. The authorities are expected to issue an official statement after completing the necessary procedures.

Notably, Tripura DGP Anurag Dhankar is a 1994 batch Tripura IPS officer who took charge as Director General of Police (DGP) Tripura in May 2025.
Before becoming the state police chief, he served as DGP (Intelligence) in Tripura. In his distinguished career spanning over three decades, he has held several key positions in the state police and also served in the central deputation of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Border Security Force (BSF). He was also part of the United Nations Mission in Kosovo, gaining significant international policing experience.
