Sparks flew today in Monfalcone, Italy, as Carnival Cruise Line celebrated a major milestone with a traditional steel-cutting ceremony for its newest ship, Carnival Destiny, which will arrive in summer 2029 as the first of three ships in the next generation of ships officially dubbed the Ace Class. The event, held at the Fincantieri shipyard, revealed the name of the ship and showed off a 3D hologram offering a first look at the future of Carnival cruises.
Carnival’s partnership with Fincantieri, a world leader in shipbuilding, dates back more than 30 years to the creation of the first Carnival Destiny, which ushered in a new era for the largest cruise ship in the world at the time. Today, that legacy continues with a class designed to redefine the guest experience.
Carnival Destiny will introduce a new way to experience the ocean from a ship, becoming the most open megaship at sea. It will feature an unprecedented number of ocean-view balcony staterooms, a redesigned lanai and more than 4.5 acres of glass, including extensive multi-story glass walls, all providing views of the entire ship. Together, these elements will create ocean views from more places on board, making the ocean constantly visible and changing guests’ relationship with the sea.
Carnival Destiny will also radically change the way guests interact on board. More than 70 percent of its venues and attractions will feature all-new carnival concepts, featuring reimagined restaurants, next-generation bars and lounges, immersive entertainment and vibrant outdoor spaces.
