The Belgian Council of Ministers has approved a new regulatory framework with the aim of resuming the canceled offshore wind tender call in July 2025. He also set October 1, 2031 for the commissioning of the first phase of the energy island that will be used for the connection.

The Belgian government has completed a review of offshore wind tenders announced in 2024 and then canceled in July 2025 for a procedure it considered presenting significant legal and financial risks.
