Members of Chadwick Boseman’s family are feuding over his estate nearly six years after his tragic death.
According to Tuesday’s documents, Black Panther The actor’s two older brothers, Derrick and Kevin Boseman, filed the lawsuit on behalf of their parents, Leroy and Caroline Boseman, against Chadwick’s widow Taylor Simone Ledward, Page Six reports.
The lawsuit asks the court to remove Ledward as administrator of Chadwick’s estate and order her to transfer the assets to Leroy and Carolyn.
The documents allege that Chadwick’s wife failed to distribute her late husband’s assets, including more than $3.8 million in assets and cash, as ordered by the court back in 2022.
In documents filed July 17 in Los Angeles, Derrick and Kevin claim that Ledward, who inherited 50% of the actor’s estate, was to split the other half equally between Chadwick’s parents, with each receiving 25%.
“Almost four years later, (Taylor) still has not distributed the property,” the documents state.
“Instead, (Taylor) continues to exercise unilateral control over (Chadwick’s) estate, denying (Chadwick’s) family long-overdue closure or participation in decision-making on matters affecting Leroy and Carolyn’s interests in (Chadwick’s) estate.”
Chadwick’s brothers also allege in their statement that Ledward “failed to account fully” for her late husband’s assets, including “royalties and balances, image rights and intellectual property, real estate, a previously undisclosed bank account and other personal property.”
The brothers claim that Ledward, who previously claimed Chadwick’s assets included $241,000 in an IRA, $3.3 million in Chadwick Boseman, Inc. stock. and $151,000 in cash, which the court found to be a “true and correct” report in 2022, “failed to formally reflect… numerous residual payments from SAG-AFTRA dating from 2020 to the present.”
Derrick and Kevin said Chadwick’s widow does not claim the late actor’s intellectual property or image.

“These rights rightfully belong to (Chadwick’s) heirs,” the documents say, noting that they are “purportedly controlled by Chadwick Boseman, Inc., a corporate entity wholly controlled by (Ledward) and through which it continues to profit from (Chadwick’s) fame.”
The brothers claim Ledward “blocked” them from “pursuing lucrative business opportunities that could benefit (Chadwick’s) elderly parents.”
Ultimately, they argued, Ledward’s “lack of transparency” about the “42” actor’s assets “creates the appearance that she is hiding assets from (Chadwick’s) family and from the court.”
Page Six has reached out to Ledward’s legal representative for comment, and attorneys for Derrick and Kevin did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Boseman died—notably without a will—at the age of 43 on August 28, 2020, after a private and years-long battle with colon cancer.
