So this question came out of nowhere… Barcelona have submitted a formal bid and are in talks with Borussia Dortmund to sign striker Karim Adeyemi, according to Gerard Romero of Giants and Fabrizio Romano.
Barca do not appear to be done with the signing of Anthony Gordon and want another striker in Adeyemi, who was left out of Germany’s World Cup squad due to injury but has been a regular in the German team over the past few years.
The 24-year-old completed a successful season in Dortmund with 10 goals, 6 assists and a host of other achievements that go beyond the numbers. He is one of the fastest players in Europe, improving his game and scoring year after year and, unsurprisingly, moving forward relentlessly.
Adeyemi has already given the go-ahead for the move and it looks like it could become a reality sooner or later as Barca are silently working with Dortmund to avoid any leaks like they did with Gordon and Newcastle.
Aside from what Adeyemi’s arrival means for Barca in terms of depth in the wide position, which really suffered last season due to injuries to Raphinha and inconsistent performances from Marcus Rashford, we have to wonder if Deco, Joan Laporta and Hansi Flick, who is apparently the driving force behind Adeyemi’s signing, are aware of the potential departures.
Raphinha’s future has been in doubt for weeks and his World Cup is now over, giving him time to consider a potential move to Saudi Arabia. Could Adeyemi’s arrival be a reaction to what the club already knows about Raphinha?
Time will tell, but it’s definitely a shock. Barca fans, what do you think of Adeyemi’s potential signing?
