Accenture stock surges as record bookings dispel AI fears

Accenture Stock Surges Over 20% After Earnings Ease AI Disruption Fears

Accenture (ACN) stock jumped more than 22% in early trading after the consulting giant reported quarterly results that reassured investors worried artificial intelligence would erode demand for traditional advisory and IT services.

Q4 Earnings Show Resilience Despite AI Headwinds

Accenture’s fiscal fourth quarter results, released Thursday morning, showed fiscal fourth quarter earnings per share grew 9% on an annualized basis while revenue climbed 6% to $18.7 billion. Operating margin expanded 370 basis points to 15.3%, underscoring improving profitability even as the firm navigated a turbulent year for tech stocks.

Top-line and bottom-line growth matter especially now because they suggest enterprises are still willing to spend on consulting at a time when many feared generative AI would automate away consulting and managed-services work. The stock had fallen roughly 30% year to date heading into the report.

Record Client Bookings Signal Strong Demand

The company reported a new record 141 client bookings of $100 million or more in the quarter, with full-year bookings reaching an all-time high of $84.5 billion. The bookings milestone is widely viewed as a leading indicator of future revenue and a direct vote of confidence from enterprise clients.

Accenture-Anthropic Partnership Reinforces AI Safety Play

Accenture has positioned itself as a trusted advisor on AI safety, auditing, and governance. In September, the firm announced a partnership with Anthropic to embed dedicated safety experts inside the AI developer’s labs to stress-test models and catch security risks before they reach customers. Both companies plan to invest at least $1 billion each over the next five years to fund the collaboration.

What This Means for Investors

The sharp rebound suggests the market had overreacted to AI disruption narratives. While generative AI continues to reshape the consulting landscape, Accenture’s results indicate that human-led advisory services remain in strong demand — particularly when paired with emerging technologies. Investors will now watch whether the momentum carries into the next quarter and whether peer firms report similar resilience.

“Top- and bottom-line growth are particularly important because they indicate strong demand for consulting services at a moment when investors feared AI could disrupt the industry.”
