After 14 years of good and faithful service to the French team, Didier Deschamps is preparing to leave. His son Dylan and daughter-in-law took to social media to announce his imminent retirement as Blues coach.
The end of the chapter is just around the corner. Didier Deschamps will play his last match in charge of the Blues next Saturday. The 57-year-old coach announced this in January 2025: he will leave his post at the end of the 2026 World Cup. In this final against the team to which he contributed so much, first as a player and then as a coach, he will play the small final tonight against the loser of the semi-final between England and Argentina. If there is another worthy appointment, then emotions are already present in the Deschamps clan. His son Dylan has already spoken out on this painful topic.
Present in the stands of the Dallas stadium with his wife Mathilde Kappelaer and mother Claude.the young man believed, like many fans, in the Blues’ chances. But Didier Deschamps’ team met a team stronger than them that evening.. A disappointment that in no way erases the incredible journey of the 1998 world champion. “We will relive everything again, we will not forget anything,” Dylan Deschamps wrote in an Instagram story, rebroadcasting an RMC post dedicated to his father’s career. “The end of a legend,” it read. That’s the least we can say!

A very proud daughter-in-law
After meeting Dylan Deschamps at their business school, Mathilde Kappelaer quickly integrated into the Deschamps clan. From their wedding will be celebrated in late summer 2025.The ties have strengthened even further and the 29-year-old influencer is present at every major family gathering, such as during this semi-final. She also shared two photos taken from the stands on her Instagram account, accompanied by the message: “Dallas, you will leave us with a bitter taste…” Very proud of her father-in-law, she also shared in stories the RMC publication dedicated to Didier Deschamps, which she simply accompanied with a white heart. There is no doubt that Didier appreciated the attention.
