The Delhi High Court on Friday (July 10, 2026) upheld the conviction of actor Rajpal Yadav in check bounce cases and sentenced him to three months in jail.

Justice Swaran Kanta Sharma also ordered Yadav to pay over ₹1 crore to the complainant in each of the seven complaints.

The judge, however, clarified that the amount already paid by the actor of around ₹2 crore should be adjusted.

He also gave Yadav two months to appeal the decision in the appellate court.

A detailed copy of the decision is awaited.

The proceedings began with review petitions filed by Yadav and his wife challenging a 2019 session court decision that upheld their conviction passed by a magistrate court in April 2018 in check bounce cases.

The magistrate court sentenced the actor to six months in prison.

In June 2024, the high court temporarily suspended his sentence on the condition that he take “sincere and sincere measures” to explore the possibility of reaching a settlement with the opposing party.

Yadav’s lawyer then said that it was a genuine deal to finance the production of a film that failed at the box office, resulting in huge financial losses for Yadav.

However, on February 2, the court asked Yadav to surrender on February 4, noting that he had repeatedly violated his obligations to the court to return the amount.

On February 16, the court temporarily suspended his sentence and allowed him to be released from jail after he deposited ₹1.5 crore in the complainant’s bank account.
