Damien Thévenot, present here during the July 2025 press conference, will no longer present Télématin at the start of the school year.
Change in PAF. “This is the last time I say this phrase, I savor it. Good morning! Good morning! Welcome to Telematen!”. It was with these words that presenter Damien Thévenot began his last live morning show this Thursday, July 9th, after 27 years of good and dedicated service to this flagship program of France Télévisions.
At the helm Telematin together with Maja Lauke from 2021 (first on weekends and then during the week from 2025), the journalist will not be returned to the school year. Her boyfriend continues the adventure and will now host the morning show alone.
Emotions were strong throughout the performance, and intensified towards the end of the show when columnist Adrien Roar relayed messages from the likes of Hélène Segara, Elie Semouna and one of Damien’s favorite actors, Giorgio Cantarini, the translator of the little boy in the series. Life is beautiful Roberto Benigni. “I found out that today is your last day in Telematen. I just wanted to congratulate you on these 25 years. I kiss you deeply. And don’t forget: life is beautiful.”“, he concluded, causing strong emotions in Damien Thévenot, who could not hold back his tears. The entire team then applauded him for his final performance.

However, no goodbyes to France Télévisions.
France Télévisions announced the departure in a press release issued on Wednesday, July 8. It also clarified that the morning show will now be ” On weekdays they are worn by Maia Lauke, and on weekends by the duo Melanie Taravant and Samuel Olivier.”
The show will benefit from the new set. Philippe Corbet, chief information officer of France Télévisions, confirmed the arrival of Francis Letelier at the head of the television company. 4 truths, daily political interview, and Agata Lecaron will host the new second part of the morning until about 11 am.
If Damien Thévenot leaves the morning show, he will not say goodbye to France Télévisions. Stefan Sitbon-Gomez, director of channels and programs of the group, assured that the journalist will continue to occupy an important place in the public service. “Damien is an extremely important person at France Télévisions. We have many projects with him. This will be one of our school surprises. It will, of course, be broadcast in formats in which you have not seen it before.”– he announced without saying more.
