Fresh twist in Kyle Joseph transfer saga: Hull City star set to leave

Kyle Joseph’s move to Middlesbrough is again a possibility and could be confirmed in the next 24 hours after Hull City agreed to sell the striker to the team they beat in the Championship play-off final back in May.

At the end of June, Joseph was on the verge of a £5 million move to Teesside, with City desperate to raise cash to avoid a financial fair play (FFP) fine.

At the last minute, City’s deal with Boro fell through, with Tigers clearing the decks elsewhere, raising the best £9m deal by selling Ivor Pandur, Akin Fameo and youngster Aidon Shehu to ensure they did not face any punishment.

With the original deal falling through, talks have resumed between the two clubs and it is now understood the deal is on the cusp of being confirmed by both.

Hull Live understands Joseph will sign an initial four-year contract at the Riverside Stadium and although he remains on the sidelines following ankle surgery ahead of the play-off final, the striker is close to a return to training expected towards the end of this month and possibly early next month.

Joseph was one of the club’s standout performers last season, scoring seven Championship goals and providing five assists to help Tigers claim a play-off place before eventually beating Boro in the play-off final at Wembley.

Unfortunately for the former Blackpool striker, Joseph was on crutches during the final after suffering an ankle problem in the semi-final second leg against Millwall.
