Nissan Australia has announced a nationwide recall of nearly 14,000 examples of its X-Trail e-Power vehicle to fix a battery software issue that could cause vehicles to lose drive power.

“Due to an issue with the Lithium-Ion Battery Controller (LBC) software, the vehicle may enter a fail-safe mode while driving or when the driver uses regenerative braking. This may result in a loss of driving force and prevent the vehicle from charging,” the recall notice states.

“Loss of motive power can increase the risk of a crash resulting in serious injury or death to passengers and other road users.”
