IMD Rain Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted in its latest bulletin that monsoon rain is likely to occur in 23 states of the country tomorrow, i.e. Thursday, July 9th. The IMD said that as the southwest monsoon sets in rapidly, almost all states in the country may experience rainfall. The IMD said the monsoon will cover the entire country in the next 2-3 days. The circumstances for this remain favorable. According to the IMD, around 23 states, including the national capital Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh, will experience heavy rainfall on July 9 and there is a possibility of severe thunderstorm or storm during this period.
According to the department, during this period, many states, including Bihar, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh, may experience strong gusts of wind, the speed of which may be 40 to 50 km per hour in places and 70 to 80 km per hour in places. The IMD has also predicted very heavy rainfall in the sub-Himalayan areas of West Bengal for the next two days and further till July 13th. The IMD said heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur over Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar until the morning of July 9 and 10. The IMD said that due to heavy rainfall, there is a possibility of landslides in hilly areas and flooding in lower parts of the plains. According to the department, thunderstorms with strong winds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour are possible in South Bengal.
Heavy rain possible in some places tomorrow
According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rain is likely in various parts of the country on July 9. These also include the hill states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The department said the two states are likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall between July 9 and 12. There is also a chance of heavy rainfall at many places in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi between July 9 and July 12. The IMD said that on July 9, Delhi will be particularly cloudy with moderate rain at some places and wind speed will reach 30-40 kmph.
What will the weather be like in Uttar Pradesh?
The IMD said some areas of eastern Uttar Pradesh are likely to experience very heavy rainfall on July 9. The department said that due to the deep depression in Uttar Pradesh, the southwest monsoon has become active again. Due to this, many parts of the state are experiencing heavy rainfall. According to the IMD, many districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh recorded moderate to heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours, while some parts of western Uttar Pradesh also received good rainfall. Rajapur in Chitrakoot district recorded the highest rainfall of 144.4 mm.
Heavy rain is also possible in Madhya Pradesh and Bihar-Bengal.
The IMD said that very heavy rain is likely at isolated places in Madhya Pradesh on July 9. According to the department, very heavy rain may occur at isolated places in eastern Madhya Pradesh on July 9-10. Additionally, very heavy rainfall is forecast for Bihar, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on July 9. Additionally, heavy rain is possible at various places in the Gangetic plains of West Bengal and Jharkhand on July 9. These states are on red alert until July 12.
What is the situation in the northeastern states?
The Meteorological Department has said that very heavy rain is possible in northeast Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh on July 9. Apart from this, heavy rain is also expected in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. The IMD has also warned of heavy rainfall in Western and Southern India on July 9. The IMD has issued a very heavy rain warning for Central Maharashtra on July 9. Additionally, an orange warning for heavy rain has been issued at various places in the Konkan, Goa and Gujarat regions. On July 9, heavy rain is likely at isolated places over coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, south interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. In connection with this, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced a red alert.
Flash Flood Warning
Due to heavy rains, a flash flood warning has been issued in many parts of Gujarat till 11:30 am on July 9, the IMD said. Areas under flash flood warning include Aravali, Dahod, Mahisagar and Panchmahal in Gujarat and Dungarpur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Banswara and Pratapgarh in Rajasthan. Apart from this, similar warnings have also been issued in Konkan and Goa, Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigarh, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg. A flash flood warning has also been issued in Pune, Nashik, Satara, Kolhapur, Aurangabad and Jalna districts in Central Maharashtra and Marathwada. Apart from this, an alert has also been issued in many other hilly areas including Shimla, Sirmaur, Dehradun and Nainital in the hilly states of Himachal and Uttarakhand.
