Steffi Brungs and Chris Wackert co-hosted “Love is Blind,” a show about the search for true love. Now her own marriage is over.
Steffi Brungs and Chris Wackert met at a student party. This led to twelve years of marriage, marriage and, most recently, a co-leading role in the Netflix show Love is Blind. The relationship has now been exhausted, as reported first by Bild and then by RTL. Meanwhile, management confirmed the branch of the news agency Straight on the News.
Steffi Brungs has been a presenter on RTL for many years, Chris Wackert has been in front of the camera on the Sat.1 program “Breakfast TV” for ten years. They’ve been co-hosting Love Is Blind since 2025 and are increasingly being booked as a couple. They also host a weekly podcast together called TraumBar. On May 13, 2026, there was a break in broadcasting.

Steffi Brungs recalled how they met in an earlier interview with Bild: “The last free seat at the party was next to Chris on the bed. We sat together from the second to the last minute and chatted until the party ended.” Chris Wackert said at the time: “What Steffi didn’t know at the time: I already had an autograph card from her. I thought beforehand it was pretty good.” After five years of dating, they got married in 2019. Potsdam and above Hawaii.
Cancer and depression
Brungs and Wackert went through difficult times together. At the beginning of the relationship, Brungs went through a depressive phase for three years. Shortly after the wedding she was diagnosed cervical cancer. This also left its mark on the relationship.
In an interview with Gala in early 2026, Brungs said: “It was just too much for him. He was in constant worry for years. He gave everything for me and for us. This created an imbalance in our relationship.” Wackert was undergoing therapy himself at the time.
The moderators even took a break from their relationship shortly after their cancer diagnosis. “We had no doubts about our love, but Chris had to go through all this in therapy,” Brungs explained. After that, they first found each other again. Now the marriage has broken up.
